History of Morris Brown College
Morris Brown College was founded in 1881 by the African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church, making it the first educational institution in Georgia established by African Americans for African Americans. Named after Bishop Morris Brown, a leader in the AME Church, the college has remained a beacon of higher learning, producing generations of leaders across various industries.
Despite challenges, including financial struggles that led to the loss of accreditation in 2003, Morris Brown has demonstrated unwavering resilience. In 2021, the college made history by regaining accreditation through the Transnational Association of Christian Colleges and Schools (TRACS)—a true testament to the power of perseverance and alumni support.
