Standing Committees

The Morris Brown College Atlanta Alumni Chapter operates through four standing committees, each focused on a critical area of the chapter's mission. Every member is encouraged to serve on at least one committee — your time, talent, and expertise are what make the chapter thrive. Committee meetings are held monthly and are open to all dues-paying members.

Membership Recruitment

Growing the Brownite Family

The Membership Recruitment Committee is responsible for identifying, engaging, and welcoming new members to the Morris Brown College Atlanta Alumni Chapter. The committee develops outreach strategies to connect with MBC graduates throughout the Atlanta metropolitan area, coordinates membership drives during the annual enrollment period (July 1 – January 31), and ensures that every Brownite in Atlanta has an opportunity to join and participate in chapter life.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate annual membership drives aligned with the MBCNAA enrollment period
  • Develop outreach materials and campaigns to reach unaffiliated MBC alumni
  • Welcome and onboard new members, connecting them with chapter resources
  • Track membership numbers and report to the Executive Board
  • Collaborate with the MBCNAA on national membership initiatives

College Recruitment

Investing in the Next Generation

The College Recruitment Committee works hand-in-hand with Morris Brown College's Office of Admissions to identify and encourage prospective students to attend MBC. As alumni, chapter members serve as powerful ambassadors for the college — sharing their personal stories, attending college fairs, and engaging with Atlanta-area high school students and their families. This committee is central to MBC's continued enrollment growth following its historic reaccreditation in 2021.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in college recruitment fairs and high school visits across the Atlanta area
  • Coordinate campus visit days and alumni ambassador programs for prospective students
  • Share personal MBC stories and testimonials to inspire the next generation of Brownites
  • Partner with the MBC Office of Admissions on recruitment strategy and events
  • Provide scholarship information to prospective students and their families

Fundraising

Building the Foundation for Excellence

The Fundraising Committee leads the chapter's efforts to generate financial resources that support Morris Brown College students and the chapter's programs. From annual galas and golf tournaments to scholarship drives and corporate sponsorship campaigns, this committee ensures the chapter has the resources to fulfill its mission. Funds raised support student scholarships, campus initiatives, and chapter programming.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute the chapter's annual fundraising events, including galas and golf tournaments
  • Develop corporate sponsorship packages and cultivate relationships with Atlanta-area businesses
  • Manage scholarship fund drives and coordinate with the Executive Board on award criteria
  • Identify grant opportunities and matching gift programs available to the chapter
  • Report fundraising progress and financial outcomes to the Executive Board

Social Media & Marketing

Amplifying the Brownite Voice

The Social Media & Marketing Committee manages the chapter's digital presence and communications strategy. This committee ensures that the chapter's story, events, and achievements reach alumni, students, and the broader Atlanta community through compelling content across social media platforms, email newsletters, and the chapter website. The committee also supports other committees by promoting their initiatives and driving engagement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and grow the chapter's social media accounts (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X/Twitter)
  • Create and distribute the chapter's email newsletter and event announcements
  • Develop marketing materials for chapter events, membership drives, and fundraisers
  • Maintain and update the chapter website with current news, events, and resources
  • Capture and share photos and videos from chapter events to build community engagement
